Audionamix has launched its newest product, an on demand web application for automated stem separation. Available exclusively to rightsholders, the app is a game changer in the world of audio separation.

“We are proud to introduce our web app, a secure, browser-based separation interface to our most advanced technology,” said Ellie McNeil, North American manager of Audionamix. “Web access to this quality of separation - to automatically isolate dialogue from music and effects or stem specific instruments from a song - is unprecedented.”

In what would traditionally take an entire team of audio engineers and dedicated equipment to accomplish, Audionamix’s newest Professional Services web app can automatically separate stems in minutes. Using their cutting-edge AI separation technology, Audionamix’s engineers have designed the perfect solution for true immersive upmixing, removal of copyrighted songs for distribution, dubbing for market expansion, and modern revival of classics.

As demand for streaming continues to boom, film and TV post-production teams need instant, effective separation to bypass technical limitations, expensive licensing woes, and get their content out to a fast-moving global market.

For music rightsholders, the opportunities are endless. Audionamix’s web app makes monetizing your stems for sync, sampling, and remixing much simpler and eliminates the need to track down studio sessions that may no longer exist. Musicians can take previously mastered tracks, plug them into the web app, and then use the separated parts in creative new ways.

“As anyone who has worked with back-catalog content knows, tracking down stems can be difficult, if not impossible. Projects and budgets are made or broken based on the availability of these critical components,” said Stephen Oliver, Senior Engineer of the L.A. Professional Services team. “Nothing can be easier than plugging the master audio file into your web browser and in minutes having a great sounding, individualized set of stems. For audio professionals, it’s a dream come true.”

Those who qualify for access will receive their first five separations for free. Pricing starts at $10 a stem.

Sometimes, you need to unscramble the egg of a master track or soundtrack, whether it’s to create a new immersive version, to extract stems for creative projects, or just get the vuvuzelas out. Sometimes, you need to unscramble the egg of a master track or soundtrack, whether it’s to create a new immersive version, to extract stems for creative or UGC projects, to swap in a new musical moment, or simply to get the vuvuzelas out. Audio separation software and services provider Audionamix has done all this, leading the industry in AI-backed sound isolation technology since 2003.

The L.A.- and Paris-based audio separation pros began their success story two decades ago. They started with nothing more than a seemingly impossible problem: How do you separate a fully mastered audio file into individual sounds, turning a mono or stereo recording into manifold stems?

“Audionamix started as a research-only company in Paris, obsessed with the idea of how you unbake the cake — unmix the pieces,” said Ellie McNeil, General Manager of the L.A. office. “At the time, it was seen as the Holy Grail of the audio world. The research was a scientific endeavor -- a practically impossible feat.”

Years of building and improving the tech gave rise to real-world uses in film and television. Audionamix’s first true test came on an international stage — the 2010 Men’s World Cup in South Africa, where the buzzing drone of thousands of vuvuzelas often drowned out the voices of the broadcasters on television. Audionamix licensed its tech to remove the distracting sound from CANAL+ coverage of the matches that summer.

Since those early days, the utility of isolating and removing stems has exploded in just about every entertainment medium. Need to remove songs with expired licenses from old TV shows or mute the vocals for a master-based Karaoke catalogue? What about isolate dialogue for an upmix or remove dialogue for international dubbing? Audionamix has created technology that can handle these seemingly impossible tasks in mere minutes.

Their top-of-the-line audio separation tech is reserved for major film studios, television networks, and music labels via the Audionamix Professional Services division. The Professional Services team takes on unique audio challenges with a fully individualized approach, offering custom solutions for rightsholders that are uniquely tailored to each project.

“We are always adjusting our AI and services based on the industry’s needs,” said Stephen Oliver, Senior Engineer of the L.A. Professional Services team. “Early on, we’d met with studios who were like, ‘Can you please take this music out?’ and the team in Paris found a way.”

Audionamix’s vision is to be not only the global leader in customized unmixing, but also the proprietor of products that are accessible and affordable. They have achieved this with award-winning software, XTRAX STEMS and IDC: Instant Dialogue Cleaner. They are now expanding the accessibility and flexibility of their Professional Services division, offering a new On-Demand Web App, API, and unlimited, on-site Enterprise license for the highest level of IP security.

These products and expertise provide an invaluable service to entertainment and media companies all over the world. “What makes Audionamix unique is the quality of our proprietary tech, our intuitive products, and our white glove Professional Services team that reserves state-of-the-art solutions for our industry clientele,” said McNeil.

Audionamix is pleased to announce the hire of Cory Sims. The experienced music licensing expert and tech advisor will join the Audionamix team as the AI-driven audio isolation company forges new relationships in the music business.

Audionamix has long been a go-to partner for rightsholders and artists, including music icons like Barry Manilow and Barbra Streisand, as well as major studios and media companies. Audionamix’s industry-leading audio isolation technologies allow it to separate audio elements, allowing for audio to be removed, dialog re-recorded, or a cappella or instrumental tracks to be generated, even when multitracks no longer exist. As audio comes into its own and new uses of stems and vocals emerge, Audionamix is expanding beyond its long-standing expertise. It aims to support more new music and audio rightsholders, labels, and tech companies looking to innovate in this space.

Sims’ hire is part of Audionamix’s effort to support these creative projects. “Cory’s expertise in both sync licensing and music technology makes him the perfect liaison between our best-in-class AI stemming solutions and the needs of the music industry,” explains Ellie McNeil, Audionamix General Manager, North America. “We remain committed to offering the most powerful AI algorithms exclusively as custom solutions for content owners.”

Sims’ leadership and expertise span music creation, artist management, music technology, and licensing. After cutting his teeth as an artist and manager, Sims joined HFA in 2017 and led Rumblefish’s business development team. There, he worked on new digital agreements including downloads, streaming, games, and karaoke licensing deals. In 2019, Sims founded a boutique consulting and advisory firm, CES ADVISR, working with a portfolio of innovative companies at the intersection of music and technology.

“I was immediately drawn to Audionamix’s impressive technology and inspired by the creative possibilities for labels, publishers, sync-libraries, and music companies,” Sims says. “I’m excited to be working with such a passionate team at ADX and to be able to progress the essential nature of AI for music.”
